This project dates back to last year when my colleague and fashion designer Lina Tragant asked me to be in charge of the graphic desitions of her final degree fashion project. "Acotacions d'Arruga" is a project that delves into the exploration of conscious collaboration between design and chance.
This project embraces an innovative and challenging approach, drawing inspiration from movements and figures such as Dadaism, the Oulipo group, Enric Miralles, and David Bowie. In this context, traditional aesthetic decisions are set aside, allowing chance to take the lead. The result is an unpredictable and uncontrollable process that is embraced with seriousness and refined to create unique garments.
Lina's courage to challenge the need for a predetermined identity in her work was what I found captivating. Instead of focusing on the final outcome, Lina emphasized the process, embodying the essence of "doing what you can with what you have." Throughout this project, we allowed ourselves to be guided by curiosity and experimentation, without truly knowing what to expect.
Below, I present the graphic work that accompanied and visually brought this exploration to life, integrating with the spirit of Lina's project. As you scroll, you will see how it’s been collaborating with chance and how this conscious collaboration resulted in something that transcends conventional design expectations.
